Replacing Pan Am Plaza Downtown

pan-am-plaza

An outside firm has agreed to purchase the Pan Am Plaza office building and adjacent plaza area, including the ice skating rink.

They’re talking about demolishing the rink and plaza and putting in a large retail and restaurant area in its place.

With the firm’s plan to remove the rinks, it begs the question on what should or could be done with the rest of the plaza area. I’ve always loved that little park and thought it should be developed more, or maybe “used” is more accurate.

I’d think a little stage for live concerts and free wi-fi would make for a great place for people to congregate during the days and nights. What do you think should be put here? I strongly believe it should be left as a park area. Maybe remove more of the concrete and soften it up a bit with more flowers and trees in the area.
