Patriots Shoot for Perfect Season
Author: Jason Bean, Category: Indianapolis Colts, News, Sports
Not directly related to Indianapolis, I figured I’d share just a little bit about the New England Patriots going for their perfect 16-0 season tonight on national television. I was really hoping that karma would be on Miami’s side last week and they’d somehow pull out a win against the Pats to protect their team’s record.
Since that didn’t happen we have to rely on the other Manning quarterback to get it done and see if Eli and the rest of the Giants can pull out a win. It would be great to have the Pat’s lose on national television across this multicast event across networks. The only thing better will be watching the Colts knock them out of the play-offs after their perfect season.

Indianapolis Yuletide Celebration 2007
Author: Jason Bean, Category: Cultural Events, Downtown, Hilbert Circle Theater, Indianapolis Colts, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indy Pro Athletes, Things To Do in Indy
My family and I will be attending the Indianapolis Yuletide Celebration this evening with a group of friends. I’m looking forward to it as I’ve heard good things about it from a variety of people. I think my kids will really enjoy it as well.
I heard last week that Ben Utecht made a guest appearance and sang “What Are You Doing New Years” with Sandi Patti.
Hopefully I’ll have a few pictures to share after this evening’s festivities.
Have you been to the celebration? What did you think? Do you make it an annual tradition?

A Birthday Gift of the Colts
Author: Jason Bean, Category: Indianapolis Colts, RCA Dome, Sports, Things To Do in Indy
My son’s 8th birthday was a few days ago and he’s become a total sports nut in the past year. He scored a LaDainian Tomlinson and Bob Sanders jersey along with some other sports related items.
More importantly my wife and sister-in-law were able to score him two tickets to the Colts vs. Texans game on Sunday, December 23rd. I’ve been to a couple of Colts games and my wife has never been. I was encouraging her to go with him but she said it should be a father/son outing.
The other challenge is that we’re both involved in a Christmas production later that evening. I’m hoping I won’t have any issues getting back to the car and down to the southside by 6pm that night.

Eagles Leading Patriots 28-24 in the 4th Quarter
Author: Jason Bean, Category: Indianapolis Colts, Indy Pro Athletes
Not directly related to Indianapolis, but I’m sure this is something all Colts fans would be happy to read. The Eagles are beating the New England Patriots 28 to 24 with 13:36 remaining in the 4th quarter.
I’m a happy camper.
It’s a tough call though because I’ve got Tom Brady on one of my Fantasy Football teams, but I’ll sacrifice for the betterment of the cause.
I was expecting this game to be a blow-out and another opportunity for us to see the Patriots run up their touchdowns and scoring. I really don’t have much of a problem with a team running up the score. Personally I’d put in my 2nd, 3rd, + stringers and let them get some playing time instead of the game’s in the bag.
A.J.Feeley is doing a great job of leading the Eagles, let’s hope he can keep it going for a few more minutes.

Season Over for Dwight Freeney
Author: Jason Bean, Category: Indianapolis Colts, Indy Pro Athletes, News, Sports
As if injured players on the offensive side of the ball wasn’t enough, now we’ll be missing one of our key defensive players in Dwight Freeney. He injured his left foot on Sunday during the game against the Chargers and it more than likely will require surgery.
Freeney, the three-time Pro Bowler, is the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. He injured his left foot in Sunday’s loss to San Diego and was diagnosed with a Lis Franc injury that may require surgery.
Arrrgh! Not much more you can say about things right now regarding the Colts. I don’t think this is the nail in the coffin for the season by any means, but his presence will definitely be missed on the field. At this point I’m not worried about any games against non-divisional opponents. Sit anyone that’s injured and let them heal and recover as much as possible. Let’s just play the rest of the season in preparation for what we can accomplish in the playoffs.

Colts Play Hard But Fall to Brady and the Patriots
Author: Jason Bean, Category: Indianapolis Colts, Indy Pro Athletes, RCA Dome, Sports
A disappointing loss tonight for the Colts against the Patriots. They played them well the entire game and gave them a lot of firsts this season:
- First game they didn’t score first
- First game they didn’t score on opening drive
- First game they were ever behind this season
Regretfully they just couldn’t give them their first loss. Things looked good for three quarters for back-to-back touchdowns put the Patriots up by four with 3 minutes left in the game.
I wouldn’t want any other quarterback in the league in charge of my offense than Peyton Manning in that situation. Sadly, this time it just wasn’t enough.
I think there should be a lot said for the Colts. The defense really stepped up and aside from the final two touchdowns by Brady, shut down the most powerful offense in the league. Joseph Addai was a 1st down machine in the game, bringing out comments from the commentators about his similarities to Barry Sanders (interestingly enough the Detroit Lions scored 44 points today. I don’t think they scored that much all of last season).
What’s amazing is this game was only really important when it comes down to the playoffs and a tie between us and the Patriots. The way the two teams are playing it’s pretty apparent they will be seeing each other again in that situation. With this win it looks like we’ll be playing them in New England.

Colts Remain Undefeated - Beat Jacksonville 29-7
Author: Jason Bean, Category: Indianapolis Colts, Indy Pro Athletes
The Colts traveled to Jacksonville for Monday Night Football last night and came away with another win to remain undefeated this season.
The game had me a little concerned about how our offense would deliver and whether or not our defense could fix the problems from our last meeting with the Jaguars this past December. All those concerns and questions were answered with blazing blue resilience last night.
My brother shared this quote with me this morning via e-mail:
70% of the Earth is covered by water, the rest is covered by Bob Sanders
Yep, that pretty much sums it up!
The big game in everyone’s heads right now is the upcoming match-up in a couple of weeks with the New England Patriots and the on-fire Tom Brady.

Big Changes for WIBC 1070
Author: Jason Bean, Category: Brickyard 400, Business, Indiana Fever, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, Indianapolis Golf, Indianapolis Indians, Indy 500, News, Sports, US Grand Prix - F1
I’ve been a listener to WIBC’s afternoon drive with Dave “The King” Wilson, Joe Staysniak and Matt Hibblen since back to 1998 or so when I first moved to Indianapolis.
An announcement today says that Emmis Communications, the parent company of WIBC is moving WIBC 1070AM to an all-sports format and changing their WNOU 93.1 FM station all-talk. The new station will be called WIBC-FM. During the transition 93.1 will begin playing Christmas music from now through Christmas.
In one of the biggest local radio station format shake-ups in recent years, Emmis Communications Corp. announced today that WIBC-AM 1070 will become an all-sports station. The station will be an affiliate of ESPN Radio.
Meanwhile, the company’s rock and hip-hop station, WNOU-FM 93.1, will change to a news-talk format, a rarity on the local FM dial.
WNOU now will be called WIBC-FM. It essentially will air the same news and talk programming that had been on WIBC-AM 1070.
The move was launched at noon today with WNOU becoming all-Christmas through December. Emmis officials said they launched “93 Days of Christmas” as a transition period.
I’ll be interested in hearing what everyone has to say about the change on the drive home today.
