Reggie Miller Pursues Comeback with Boston Celtics
Author: Jason Bean, Category: Conseco Fieldhouse, Indiana Pacers, Indy Pro Athletes, People, Sports
Some of the news chatter this morning in the city revolves around the possibility of Pacer’s veteran, Reggie Miller, coming out of retirement to join the Boston Celtics for a championship run.
The story on ESPN has the details, but I’m not sure about the likelihood of the Celtics really having a chance to do it, even after their recent 7-for-1 trade to get Kevin Garnett on their roster.
Miller was all set to continue that job when Celtics general manager Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers asked him to think about joining their revamped team in a reserve role, playing about 15 minutes per game.
It’s a tough question for me. You work your entire career with one team in the effort to win a championship and things just don’t fall into place for you or the team. Yet, you’ve been loyal to the team for 13 years. For me, to come out of retirement and play for another team just doesn’t make sense for me.
I’m sure Reggie is making comfortable money as an analyst for TNT and doesn’t need the money. Is it just in pursuit of a championship? An un-realized dream? What if he gets injured? What if they don’t do it this year? Will he stay for another year?
The readers of ESPN seem to be a little torn as well.

2The announcement was made last week. He’s not going anywhere. He stated it was more about being mentally prepared, not so much about his physical preparedness.
